  • Lucas Adamitz – warehouse specialist in the 2nd year of his apprenticeship at TSR

    • What’s the best way to describe TSR?

TSR is an employer that you can always rely on and that treats everyone the same – no matter whether they are a salaried employee or an apprentice. The colleagues treat each other with respect. There’s a very relaxed atmosphere here as everyone is kind and friendly to each other.

What experience have you gained during your apprenticeship so far?

Some people might find it difficult to imagine learning the profession of warehouse specialist at a metal recycling plant but it is in fact really interesting, varied and informative. I’ve already learned a lot – such as recognizing the various kinds of steel and non-ferrous scrap and knowing how to accept and further process the materials and enter them into the system.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I’ve been involved in and taught about all the different business areas right from the start. So far, everything has been explained to me really well and I’ve enjoyed working in all the different departments no matter what they may do – for example, loading, sorting or processing non-ferrous metals. It’s particularly interesting to see how value is added to the incoming materials. Many of the ferrous and non-ferrous metals can be recycled so that they can be reused. Another important aspect of my job is dealing with our customers. This is also something that I really enjoy doing.

So what is your overall verdict on doing an apprenticeship at TSR?

I’ve learned a great deal about the company during my time at TSR. Above all, what high regard apprentices are held in here. You can always turn to your trainer for help and exchange information with the other apprentices. As far as I’m concerned, it was definitely the right decision to do an apprenticeship at TSR and can recommend it to anyone who’s interested in working in an industry that offers a whole range of different tasks.
