Lünen, 05 February 2025.TSR Group GmbH & Co. KG’s dedication to the green transition and the future can now be seen in black and white at its site in Duisburg. The road leading to TSR’s Duisburg branch has been renamed “Raw Materials Island” – replacing its previous address “Scrap Island”.
The new street name, therefore, further underlines the role that the TSR Group has carved out for itself: namely, to be a partner to industry, a producer of sustainable raw materials, and an architect driving the creation of a future-proof circular economy. At the same time, it also reflects the structural change in the region: the classic scrapyard – the dominant image of the past – has been replaced by a site that operates modern recycling processes, opening up innovative opportunities for both the environment and business.
The renaming of the street is far more than simply an official act. It also signifies what the TSR Group is all about: a business that transforms old metal into high-quality recycled raw materials so they can be used in industrial value chains. While the old name “Scrap Island” was strongly influenced by the image of a waste management business, the new name highlights the quality and the sustainability of the materials that TSR processes and produces.
The company’s Duisburg branch is one of the largest recycling sites in Europe. It also operates one of the most modern facilities for processing old metal: its TSR40 plant. This is where it transforms post-consumer material into the high-quality recycled product TSR40 that is then used to produce steel. As a result, the site plays a key role in cutting carbon emissions and energy consumption and strengthening the resilience of industrial value chains while simultaneously conserving natural resources.
“Our recycled raw materials – including our recycled product TSR40 – have already been able to establish themselves as a genuine alternative to virgin raw materials. We are delighted that our commitment and dedication are now being reflected in our Duisburg address and we would like to thank the city council for making the renaming of the street possible,” commented Bernd Fleschenberg, managing director of the TSR Group.
